Can you believe it has been over 11 years since we met Jim and Laurie Barnes? Elizabeth was just a baby when they came to Christian Church of Santa Clara to tell us of their plan to establish a Christian Library in Prague, Czech Republic. The library has grown to a neighborhood resource. In the past we have helped the library with a book drive and funding.
Both Jim and Laurie attended San Jose Christian College and were members of Central Christian Church in San Jose. They have a heart for missions.
Over the years they have been challenged with family emergencies, attacks on the library, a flood at Elizabeth's school, government requirements for their legal status, and much more. The library has become a resource for visitors to Prague as well as residents. They offer a children's story hour, Bible studies, resources for students and pastors, Christian books in Czech and English.
They need prayer for:
- Continued and expanded partnership opportunities with Czech churches,
- God's continued leading and wisdom regarding Klatovy outreach, including specific details,
- God's continued provision regarding financial needs both monthly and for special projects including library web site,
- Praise for recent opportunities with women's Bible study workshop and cross-cultural exchange with 20 Czech high school students,
- Praise of recent donations of additional books for the library collection,
- Prayer for approval of permanent residency visa (deadline August 25),
- The month of May we have lots happening including visitors and volunteers coming, special story outreach, annual used book sale, church retreat, European Leadership Forum conference that Jim will be attending and Elizabeth big annual swim meet,
- The ministry of the library as God continues to change lives through the ministry of books!
